Baby Hardrick will be here soon, but not without one last surprise...
We plan for medical costs and purchase insurance for major medical events such as the upcoming delivery of our baby boy in a few short weeks. It is becuase of the preperations that we have made that we were completely surprised to receive notice from our insurance company today that "due to the surge in medical claims this year, the company is no longer accepting claims and is making no commitments to cover existing claims as the company is out of funds..."
This is the last news we expected or hoped to hear with our son's delivery any week now. We will be delivering our son in Cambodia where we live and work which has much lower medical costs than in America where we delivered both our daughters before we relocated. However, the medical costs and possible emergency costs are substantial still.
Our family has commited to serving in Cambodia through the non-profit organization EMI to train up young professionals in architecture and engineering so that they may have the opportunity to serve their communities and improve their life and the lives of those around them. We are able to invest our time and efforts in this work becuase of our loving supporters, families, and friends that also desire to see better life opportunities for Cambodians.
In our situation, we have limited financial resources and that is why we are coming to you now in this unprecedented case. The estimated $5,200 is the total medical services cost for delivery, hospitalization, and care to bring our new baby boy into the world. 50% of the cost needs to be paid up front to be accepted in the hospital and with the possibility of going into labor at any time in these remaining 3 weeks of pregnancy, the time to help is now.
