Emergency Funds For WP Undocumented Community

Hello Everyone,
We recognize that the undocumented community is one of the most vulnerable communities impacted by COVID-19. Undocumented immigrants make up a number of workers who are being considered essential during this crisis. While they risk their health and safety to obtain a paycheck they do not have access to health insurance. Many communities will receive unemployment insurance, public benefits, and funding from organizations and programs but undocumented immigrants are not able to access unemployment benefits, Medicare, federal social services among other resources from federally-funded organizations and programs. The undocumented community is excluded from resources, putting them at risk and leaving them vulnerable during this pandemic.
Who We Are:
The White Plains DREAM Alumni team is led by volunteers who are part of the White Plains (NY) community. Our team includes members who are undocumented, part of mixed-status families, and allies. Our fundraising initiative is called WP (White Plains) Still DREAMing. We started this fund to help support undocumented youth and families in our city and to provide hope during the time of COVID-19. Our goal with this fund is to provide financial support to undocumented members in our community.
We are specifically asking for donations and support from allies and friends. Allies and friends can support by doing the following:

For Transparency: Funds will be going directly to impacted undocumented individuals and families who fill out the application. We want to make it clear that we will not share any specific details that will jeopardize the undocumented community in White Plains. However, we will share with you the exact number of families that we have helped. We are keeping track of all donations, all requests, all disbursements, and tracking where every cent is going for transparency purposes.

Reconocemos que la comunidad indocumentada es una de las comunidades más vulnerables impactadas por COVID-19. Los inmigrantes indocumentados constituyen una serie de trabajadores que se consideran esenciales durante esta crisis. Si bien arriesgan su salud y seguridad para obtener un cheque de pago, no tienen acceso al seguro de salud. Muchas comunidades recibirán seguro de desempleo, beneficios públicos y fondos de organizaciones y programas, pero los inmigrantes indocumentados no pueden acceder a beneficios de desempleo, Medicare, servicios sociales federales, entre otros recursos de organizaciones y programas financiados por el gobierno federal. La comunidad indocumentada está excluida de los recursos, poniéndolos en riesgo y dejándolos vulnerables durante esta pandemia.

El equipo de White Plains DREAM Alumni está dirigido por voluntarios que forman parte de la comunidad de White Plains (NY). Nuestro equipo incluye miembros indocumentados, parte de familias con estados migratorios distintos y aliados. Nuestra iniciativa de recaudación de fondos se llama WP (White Plains) Still DREAMing. Comenzamos este fondo para ayudar a apoyar a jóvenes y familias indocumentadas en nuestra ciudad y para brindar esperanza durante el tiempo de COVID-19. Nuestro objetivo con este fondo es proporcionar apoyo financiero a miembros indocumentados en nuestra comunidad.
