The Crisis: Our School is Under Threat
On Thursday, October 2nd, 2025, North Tyneside Council announced a proposed closure of Monkseaton Middle School, effective September 2027, with no new admissions planned for September 2026.
This is more than just a school closing... it is the loss of a vital community resource and a unique, nurturing environment that countless children rely on.
Please help us raise the funds needed to fight this decision and keep the doors of Monkseaton Middle School open!
Our Initial Goal: £1000
Why We Must Fight to Save MMS
Monkseaton Middle School has undergone a remarkable transformation in recent years, becoming a beloved and critically important educational institution, particularly for vulnerable children.
1. A Haven for SEND & Wellbeing:
MMS has become incredibly popular, especially within the Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) community. Our school offers a smaller, more focused environment that prioritizes emotional wellbeing and mental health. Unlike larger schools, MMS often provides appropriate, in-house support, reducing the need for lengthy and disruptive reliance on external providers. This holistic approach is making a profound difference in children's lives.
2. A School Loved by Its Community:
Pupils are devastated and confused by the announcement. They love their school and the supportive atmosphere it provides.
The Headteacher and Faculty have worked tirelessly to turn the school’s reputation around, creating a positive, nurturing, and high-quality learning environment.
Parents who have often struggled to find the right fit for their children are finally seeing the joy and success the school has brought. We cannot let this safe haven be taken away.
Where Your Donations Will Go
The fight to save our school could be costly, but the value of a child's education and wellbeing is priceless. Every pound raised will be used directly for the campaign efforts including campaign materials, community events, legal and professional fees (if needed) and any unforeseen administrative costs or specialist reports required.
In the highly successful scenario that our campaign to save Monkseaton Middle School concludes with funds remaining, all surplus donations will be directly allocated to the school. This ensures that every pound contributes to the wellbeing and educational experience of the pupils, whether through purchasing new resources, supporting student mental health initiatives, or establishing a legacy fund for the students.
