On Easter Sunday, April 21st, 2019 a state of emergency was declared in the island nation of Sri Lanka.
More than 8 coordinated terrorist attacks were carried across the country leaving many critically injured as well as taking the lives of over 200 innocent civilians.
Amongst the sites of attack during the Easter celebrations included three churches (St. Anthony’s Shrine in Colombo, Zion Church in Batticaloa and St. Sebastian’s Church in Negombo) as well as three luxury hotels (the Shangri-La Colombo, Cinnamon Grand Colombo and the Kingsbury Colombo).
Due to the overwhelming amount of emergency support and resources currently needed at the overcrowded general hospital in Negambo as well as emergency assistance required in Colombo and Batticaloa this fundraiser has been created to assist the Kind Hearted Lankan's Charity with their groundwork at the hospitals as they support the victims and their families of this terrible tragedy. This includes the purchases of emergency donations items for the overcrowded hospitals including towels, sleeping mattresses, linen (eg. bedsheets), clothes (eg. sarongs) and toiletries/ personal care items (eg toothbrush/toothpaste).

My name is Sandrine Fernando and I have been an international volunteer for the Sri Lankan charity Kind Hearted Lankan’s for over two years.
I reside in Melbourne, Australia. As the Kind Hearted Lankan’s charity is based in Sri Lanka and is not on the GoFund Me’s list of supported countries I was asked by the Sri Lanka based charity to create this GoFundMe page. On behalf of the charity I will be withdrawing all funds and transferring the funds to the Charity’s Australian ABN account as the charity is also a registered charity in Victoria, Australia (ABN: 39408106253).
