My name is Mohammed AlKhatib. I live in Edmonton, Canada—but my heart is shattered.
When the war escalated, I tried everything I could to get my children out of Gaza. I didn't succeed in time. The borders closed, and now my three children—Hasan (21), Deema (18), and Abood (12)—are still trapped there, separated from me by a world of violence and uncertainty.
In April 2024, an airstrike destroyed our family home. Since then, my children have been living in a tent with my elderly parents and two sisters. They have no running water or electricity. Food is scarce and only available at unbearable prices on the black market. Every day is a battle to survive.
I may be in Canada physically, but emotionally, I’m with them in Gaza. I wake up every day thinking about how they’re getting by—and how I can help from here.
I’m raising $10,000 CAD to provide them with basic essentials—rice, flour, lentils, canned milk, and clean, trucked water—to help them survive the next three months. Every dollar raised goes directly to them through Western Union.
These funds will also support my ongoing legal efforts to bring them to safety here in Canada. I’ve retained an immigration lawyer, and part of the funds will go toward those legal expenses.
Your support—no matter how small—offers more than just material help. It brings hope. It feeds hungry mouths. It keeps my children alive. And it brings us one step closer to being reunited.
Please help me give Hasan, Deema, and Abood a future.
Thank you, from the bottom of my heart.
