Emergency Flood Support for Monica and Sons

Hello, my name is Blythe and I live in Wanstead. Over the past 6 months I have gotten to know a precious woman called Monica who works selling the Big Issue here much of the week. She has been a beloved part of the community here for many years and her smiles light up the pavement even on the most dreary of days.

Monica works incredibly hard to support her 5 young sons, 2, 6, 8 10 and 12 years old, standing in the cold many hours a day and often earning very little. She is a single mother who has had a very hard time of it but things are looking up as she is about to gain Indefinite Right to Remain in September!!! This is a huge step as it means she will be able to get help moving forward AND finally have access to a better paid job!

Right now they have been living in unusually affordable house but because the house was totally flooded during the last heavy rain fall th ey have to move out so that the owner can renovate. The owner has financial difficulties of his own due to the pandemic, so this means he cannot help Monica further and this puts her and beautiful boys at risk of being homeless or having to go through a process with social services.

We are asking for the bare minimum to keep them safe until they are able to get to the next step - £3675. This helps them into a two bedroom flat in the same area as her boys' schools within two weeks and also pays one months deposit after which Monica should be able to have enough support to be safe.

Monica was already hanging on by a thread, she is tired, struggling with asthma in the damp house and really needs a break to help her and her family to the next island of safety. Will you help?
