Hello my name is Valerie a retired Lecturer in Social Science focusing in the areas of health and social care, Business studies, communication and counselling. I am based in the United Kingdom, but still always maintain the urge to guide, support and help raise the level of basic needs for the less fortunate individuals within thriving societies. Jamaica is one such society that has been positive in making progress but still needs help to support certain individuals within. My humanitarian bases for this immediate appeal lends itself to the urgent and utmost call for the attention to look towards the people who are in an absolute state of high level priority demand for support and guidance. The Impact of hurricane Melissa has no doubt spoken to us. Clearly, the trail of damages to the infrastructure of the country as a whole. The very fabric of trying to exist in the aftermath of a category 5 hurricane are unimaginable for those not directly affected. Notwithstanding the trauma, vulnerability and mental disturbance caused, this hurricane was horrific. This hurricane came with measures of vast destructions and mayhem in Jamaica. Whilst some areas were hit worst that others, Montego Bay had its fair share of the disgruntlement from hurricane Melissa. In terms of the immediacy. I am sourcing help to raise fund to support vulnerable individuals such as children, elderly and those with disability so as to sustain a foundation to help raise their hope and spirit, physically and mentally during this time of despair. The fund will directly target food drive delivery for the elderly and other vulnerable individuals within an area of the countryside in Montego Bay. It will also facilitate the cleaning of the local health centre and replacing some basis essential needed resources to reinstate its function. This fund will also be used to support some basic personal and hygienic needs for the elderly such as those using pampers. School cleaning and supplies for back to school stationaries is also a key drive for this appeal to ensure the continuous feed towards educational development.
