The worst imaginable disaster has hit Hope Orphanage in Makeni town in Sierra Leone as due to extreme weather their roof collapsed on the night of Tuesday 27th May, leaving them without proper shelter for the 77 people who live there and without the ability to store clothing, bedding or food safely.

They spent the night trying to recover what they could and to try to empty and drain any of the water that they could

As you can see the aftermath is devastating and they are left unprotected and without knowing what they can do next. The rain might return and impact their health and the structure of the orphanage further

This leaves Hope Orphanage in a very vulnerable and unsafe position without knowing if the rain will return and without the safety and protection of their home
