Hi, my name is Stephanie, and I live in Gothenburg, Sweden. I am starting this fundraiser for my relatives and their neighbors in Northern Sumatra, Indonesia, who have been severely affected by Cyclone Ditwah and the catastrophic flooding that followed.

I still have many family members living in the affected areas. Their homes have been destroyed, entire neighborhoods are underwater, and they currently have no reliable access to food, clean water, or medical care. I am incredibly grateful that my relatives are alive, but they have lost everything.

One of the most urgent needs right now is my uncle, who requires medical care that local clinics cannot provide. Because the flooding has cut off all road access, he must be transported between hospitals by boat, and medical specialists cannot reach him where he is. These transports are essential but very costly.

This disaster has also deeply affected my cousin Zulvi, who just lost his home for the second time.

In 2004, he survived the devastating Aceh tsunami as a child.

Only he and his mother lived.

His mother lost the baby twins she was holding when the wave hit, and his father died while protecting him from a collapsing roof.

After rebuilding his life from that tragedy, he is now facing yet another catastrophe — his home swept away again by the floodwaters.

My cousin, Mifta Fariz, based in Medan, and his organization Fokus Rehabilitasi Narkotika Indonesia, are working on the ground distributing clean water, food, and basic emergency supplies. They have a domestic donation page, but it is difficult for international donors to support them directly. That is why I’m raising funds here — to help both my relatives and their wider community.

How the funds will be used:

• Temporary shelter materials, such as tarps, bedding, and clothing

• Medical transport and treatment for my uncle, including boat transport to hospitals

• Support for local relief teams, including fuel, food distribution, and clean water delivery

I will personally transfer the funds to my relatives and to my cousin’s organization to ensure the money reaches those who need it the most.
