I am raising funds to support Awake a Nation organisation in Sri Lanka to distribute emergency supplies to families.

Cyclone Ditwah has devastated Sri Lanka in ways the country has never seen before. According to the Disaster Management Office, 334 lives have been lost, 370 people are still missing, and more than 1.1 million have been displaced. Entire communities are shattered, and families are facing a level of heartbreak and uncertainty they never imagined.

In Puttalam — one of the worst-hit districts — mothers are holding their children in overcrowded shelters, trying to stay strong despite losing almost everything. Homes have been washed away, loved ones are missing, and thousands are left with no place to return to. Behind every statistic is a story: a mother who can’t find food for her child, teenagers who fled with nothing, families sleeping on cold floors with no belongings left to call their own.

We are trying to raise £15,000 to bring urgent support to these families. With your help, we can place warm meals in their hands, provide dry rations that carry them beyond the first week, supply essential hygiene items for women and adolescent girls, and offer basic comforts like a mattress, clean clothing, and dignity during displacement.
