I am running the Great Ocean Road Marathon here in Melbourne on May 19th in aid of Dental Clinic at the Embulbul Catholic Dispensary. Originally set up in 2001, the Dispensary provides medical, dental and maternity services to the community of Embulbul, in the diocese of Ngong, on the outskirts of Nairobi, Kenya.

In 2002, my dad, Garry, and a group of other Irish dentists, provided the funding and guidance to set up the dental clinic within the dispensary, as part of the CHEKA project. The clinic has gone from strength to strength since that time, most recently with the introduction of a new dental chair and equipment in 2021 as a result of fundraising efforts in Ireland (see cover photo).

The Dispensary is a key pillar of the community and their services are in more demand than ever before. I hope to raise some money, to aid the purchase of new dental equipment to support the continuation of the amazing work done by those who help countless people each year, who otherwise would have no access to such services.
