Ellissa's Oxygen

Myself and hopefully others are doing the Manchester to Blackpool bike ride .. 100km in July.. those who know us will already know we are not cyclists so anticipate around 5 hours on the saddle.. why would any non cyclist do this...?

 

I am raising money to purchase a portable oxygen concentrator for a 6 year old little girl who was born with foxG1 syndrome. This syndrome is extremely rare and she is 1 of less than 100 in the uk who suffer from it. She is completely wheelchair reliant , non verbal, solely tube fed and has uncontrollable epilepsy. Due to her epilepsy and numerous chest infections and viruses this has left her reliant on oxygen 24 hours a day. And even through all her medical difficulties she always gives the biggest smile.

She currently uses nhs cylinder oxygen canisters for her daily oxygen but for leaving the house and for outings with her family such as holidays and daily activities ; a portable oxygen concentrator will make her life a lot easier for both her and her family.

A portable concentrator provides the same amount of oxygen in smart dose and pulse dose mode. It comes in a small carry along box and can run off a chargeable battery pack. They are lightweight and can be used on an airplane and much better for winter time when the temperatures are cold.

Unfortunately they are Not available on the nhs . I am raising money towards the purchase of one of these concentrators to help make this little girls life easier. She certainly is a true warrior.
