Hello!
My name is Ella, i am a 15 years old explorer and i have a the opportunity of a lifetime ahead of me, to attend the World scout jamboree in Poland in 2027! Not only representing the Avon County but the UK!
The World scout Jamboree is a quadrennial event, that brings scouts between 14-18 from every corner of the globe together for a camp filled with Culture, Friendship, Adventure, Leadership, Diversity and the Scouting spirit to help give all of the young people attending the hope and confidence to create a better more Inclusive, Understanding and braver World.
I have been a Scout since Covid and am currently an Explorer. The scouting environment has allowed me to flourish into the person i am today, by giving me a space to Learn, Understand, Build independence, Develop my friendships, Get things wrong, Learn life skills and Follow my interests. The constant community in scouting has made me feel included and valued when no where else did, i hope to pass this on to the younger generation of scouts by volunteering as a young leader.
The world scout jamboree is a massive yet selective event (there is tens of thousands of participants) and i was lucky enough to get 1 of 36 spaces out of the 129 applicants for Unit 12. As a member of the UK contingent the money i need to raise to attend (£3,250) does not only cover me, it help subsidise the fees for another young person from a less fortunate country to make sure that the jamboree is truly accessible and has representatives from every scouting country.
Being a member of unit 12 is a lot more then the weeks we will spend in Poland in 2027, it’s 2 years of training, planning, fundraising, creating friendships, developing our skills as well as a lot of personal development. Personally some of the biggest challenges for me will be: Getting out of my comfort zone, talking to new people, dealing with new situations and remembering to be brave and try new things! All of the things i will have to do frequently on my journey to the jamboree meaning that after those two years of practice i should be super confident in my own skills and abilities to be able to benefit and get as much as possible out of the jamboree.
i have already run a Christmas swimming fundraiser and managed to raise £200! I am planning to do many more fundraisers over the corse of these 18 months but i will need some help to be able to reach my goal of £3,250, every single donation no matter the size will help me and another scout get to experience the life changing event that is the World scout jamboree.
If you read all of this Thank You so Much! If you would like to further support me consider donating, sharing this page, or wansdyke.WSJ on instagram to keep up to date with my fundraising journey! I appreciate every single bit of support i receive and am extremely thankful for this amazing opportunity.
Thank you again for your support,
