Hi, my name is Lisa and I’m trying to raise money for my daughter Ella, who desperately needs a decent wheelchair so that she can be independent and active (just as she used to be!). Ella was diagnosed with Guillain-Barré syndrome (GBS) last year - a rare disorder where the immune system attacks the central nervous system, leading to muscle weakness and paralysis. Before GBS, Ella loved sport and was very active. Since being confined to a basic and unfit for purpose NHS wheelchair, her independence is very limited and she wants nothing more than to live as close to a normal life as a 22-year old should live. She struggles to leave her house and cannot wheel over anything that isn’t smooth, flat and even. She has just started Park Runs with me which, although fun, are incredibly hard work for her, due to the state of her current chair. Her long term goal is to achieve a half-marathon (or who knows, maybe the London marathon one day!), in aid of GAIN, the GBS charity, but this would only be possible with your help and funds. She would love to buy an active / sports wheelchair to help her live her life to the full again, but needs your help please! Any donations, big or small, will make a HUGE difference. Thank you so much!
