Elks Care. Elks Share. It’s time to shave my hair!

Elks care, Elks share and it’s time to shave my hair! I’m raising money for our local Elks Lodge 431 in Skagway, Alaska. As a charitable organization, our local Elks is always available to help those in need, whether be it scholarships for local students, incredible dinners for veterans, or financial help for those with medical bills or other unexpected emergencies. The Skagway, Alaska Elks lodge 431 has  a system of distribution in place and is usually aware of those in our community who might be most in need. I have personally been on the receiving end of their generosity, and I feel like it’s time to give back. ($500 is the typical amount of assistance given by our Elks lodge to some one in need, so I figure this can help at least a couple people, while at the same time ridding myself of at least 5 pounds of hair.) Like every other non-profit these days, our Elks organization is also unable to raise money as they normally would, so every little bit helps. (And I’ve been thinking about shaving my head since Sinead O’ Connor’s 1990 “I do not want what I haven’t got” album, so it seems like a win-win... even if it does turn out that I have an oddly shaped head.)

So here’s the deal: if I raise $1500 by noon on Wednesday June 10th,  it all gets shaved off live on Facebook! If I fail to hit the $1500 mark, whatever money has been raised will still be donated, and I’ll instead get a fancy Natalie cut and dye job (forever 37!).
