UNICEF Zimbabwes Forgotten Children
EL-Kind is a new charitable association based in Leicester, England, which supports children, primarily in Africa.
This fundraising will help us cover the initial cost of holding future fundraisers, and begin starting to build a fund to provide orphan care to those in need.
Ellah is a dynamic, qualified Social Worker, who possesses an extraordinary level of affection and care, a heart for children and orphans especially and the willingness to help and empower them. Her heart’s desire from childhood was always been to help the less fortunate; those ravaged by the pangs of disease or other negative situations. Having had this vision for a long time, she decided that now is the time to fulfil for the vision must not be delayed. As they say, 'there is no better time than the present.’
Since the beginning of 2020, we have employed a variety of fundraising initiatives in order to support children orphaned by HIV. We understand that the contraction of HIV is no longer a death sentence but unfortunately we also acknowledge that prejudice still exists towards people with HIV.
Music holds a pivotal position within the charity; the nucleus of the work that we do. Therefore, we invite those with instruments, new and used, to donate them to us in order to boost this worthy cause. You can trace how your instrument is bringing hope to a child infected or affected by HIV.
We are planning a series of concerts in the UK for the purpose of fundraising for the crucial work that we perform. We hope to sponsor some of these children on their education journey. As it is commonly said, "you give a man a fish and you feed him for a day; teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime." We desire to continually encourage the development of lifelong skills in these children. Additionally, we have planned to work in collaboration with EAGA children and schools in U.K.
According to UNICEF, Zimbabwe is one of the many countries in sub- Saharan, which have been devastated by the HIV/AIDS pandemic. A tragic side effect has been a burgeoning orphan crisis. Zimbabwe has more than 1.3 million children orphaned by Aids and 50,000 households headed by children below the age of 18 due to the pandemic. Current estimates place Zimbabwe’s total orphan population at 1,000,000 of which 761,000 are believed to be a consequence of AIDS . The number of orphans is expected to rise.
