Did you know that many refugees are 8 times below the poverty line? Even the 13,000 ugx ($3.5) ration most of refugees have been receiving is cut-off due to insufficient funding. Meet Mercy, a young girl, the hope of the mother who is a widow. Mercy is like the head of the family and the bread winner. Unfortunately, after being knocked by a motorbike her legs were broken, and thus the hope and the future of her siblings.
Even if Mercy’s legs were broken, her purpose, and success should not be compromised. We decided to enroll her in Elimisha program, walking together to rebuild the broken hopes for her family. Not only Mercy, but also Faith, a young mother with two children, 3 and 4 years old dumped by irresponsible father. Elimisha program has committed to take her in the program to walk together.
We are thrilled to announce the Elimisha Youth Empowerment Program, an inspiring initiative under the Ngazi Initiative Africa that strives to provide sustainable solutions to refugees and host community youths.
