Dear friends and family, Elijah was in a motor vehicle incident on Sunday (7/3/22) where he acquired a fractured tibia that led to compartment syndrome, which required an emergency fasciotomy. Compartment syndrome is a rare and dangerous condition caused by pressure buildup from internal bleeding or swelling of tissues. Elijah has been in the hospital for a week and has undergone two unsuccessful surgery attempts to close the wound. In 2-4 days, they will attempt again, depending on the condition of the wound. When he finally leaves the hospital, recovery will take a minimum of four months. We do not know how long he will need to be in the hospital. He will be using a combination of mobility aids during the healing process and will not be able to work.
Elijah has been working doing vehicle customization while building his own business repairing motorcycles. As I said, he will not be able to continue working for at least four months. During this challenging time, he needs your support if you are able. We hope to raise at least $10,000, ideally up to $25,000, to cover at least 4-6 months of continuing care, rent, utilities, and living expenses.
