My Fairy GodParents (MFGP) has been selected to present at the 8th Annual Children of Incarcerated Parents National Conference hosted by the Center for Child Well-Being at Arizona State University.
Our workshop, Trust Isn’t Protection: What Caregivers Need to Know About Raising Children Through Parental Incarceration, was chosen for a 60-minute national presentation.
This conference convenes researchers, policymakers, service providers, and advocates from across the country. And this year, they will hear directly from lived experience.
We are not just presenting theory.
⸻
We are bringing:
- A caregiver advocate and nonprofit founder
- A formerly incarcerated father
- A youth author raised through parental incarceration
- A dedicated MFGP community volunteer
This is multi-generational lived experience on a national stage.
Families impacted by incarceration deserve to be represented by voices who understand the system from the inside.
⸻
Funding Goal
We are raising funds to cover:
- Roundtrip airfare for four participants
- 3 nights hotel accommodations
- Ground transportation
- Conference registration
- Workshop materials and printing
- Volunteer meals stipend
Our current program funding supports direct services for youth and families. This national opportunity was not built into our existing budget and requires additional community investment.
