Queer Music Midwest is a budding performing arts organization with simple goals–to uplift queer musicmakers across the Midwestern United States and enrich the communities they live in. At QMM, we recognize the power that music has to enact change. Midwestern LGBTQIA+ artists face unique struggles due to lack of resources and opportunities to present their work. We address these inequities by creating spaces for queer musicmakers to engage with their communities and let their freak flags fly.
Our inaugural festival Queer Music Midwest 2026 (#QMM26) takes place on April 11th, 2026 at BLIXT Arts Labs in Lincoln, Nebraska. Featuring performers from a wide range of styles, genres, and instrumentations, as well as performances of compositions by queer composers with connections to the Midwest, this festival is just our first step towards connecting queer musicians with their communities.
Your donation to Queer Music Midwest helps us elevate queer musicians and their communities through educational and community-based music events such as our upcoming 2026 festival, but we’re just getting started. QMM has ambitious plans for events that connect musicians with their communities in Nebraska, Ohio, Michigan, and beyond. And we can’t do it without your help getting off the ground.
