London Art Exchange and Leicester South Foodbank are partnering to fund a new electric delivery van?

Leicester South Food Bank was established in 2015 in response to the rising levels of food insecurity affecting individuals and families across the Leicester City and Leicestershire communities. We are an independent charity but operate as part of the Trussell network while maintaining our own governance to tailor our services to local needs.

Our core mission is to prevent and relieve poverty by providing emergency food, signposting individuals to further support, and offering advocacy that helps residents overcome crisis situations. Over time, our support has expanded to include:

Emergency three‑day food parcels distributed through 23 localised hubs

Hygiene and household essentials

Fuel vouchers for those experiencing energy poverty

Our own Benefits and debt advice as well as sign posting to other organisations

Partnerships with schools, GPs, housing support teams, and community groups

An 8,000sqft warehouse supporting 20 other food poverty organisations

Opened our multi-agency Community Hub in Wigston

We operate across multiple distribution centres, ensuring accessible support for residents in areas of high deprivation.

We play a central coordination role across the region through our warehouse and logistics hub, which supports over 20 partner organisations and helps them reach more than 60,000 people a year. This infrastructure provides:

· Redistribution of large-scale donations

· Access to national suppliers and bulk purchasing

· Coordinated stock management and transport

· Reliable access to essential supplies

· Stability for smaller organisations delivering frontline services

This support increases efficiency, reduces duplication and ensures resources reach communities where they are needed most. Investment in this infrastructure therefore strengthens the resilience of the entire local support network, not just one organisation.
