Help Elect Peter Horgan to City Council
Donation protected
My name is Peter Horgan and I am standing for election this coming June 2024 for Cork City Council as the Labour Party Candidate in Cork City South East Ward. That Ward includes the communities of Blackrock, Mahon, Beaumont, Ballintemple, Ballinlough, Douglas, Maryborough Hill, Garryduff, Rochestown and Donnybrook.
I am a young father of two boys, Charlie and Theo, and live in the South East ward with my wife Celine.
I am running to give a voice to those who cannot shout any longer. I want to be the voice for those who do not have one in my community. With a back to basics approach of not just alone working for you but also working with you, I will with your support be a progressive and solution driven voice in City Hall.
Running for Election is an expensive process and any help you can give is greatly appreciated. If you would like to help canvas or discuss issues in your area, please do not hesitate to get in touch.
We are losing the sense of what a city council should provide in our communities. This includes the basic provisions of footpaths, roads, transport and improving our public realm., Yes, the investment in Marina Park is to be welcomed, but we must do a lot more.
More playgrounds and play areas for Blackrock, Beaumont, Maryborough Hill, Ballinlough and Rochestown. Basic footpath repairs along with the other general improvements to our local comminates are the bread and butter of what a Council should be doing.
A radical overhaul of school transport could take thousands of cars off the road in the south East Ward, which all too frequently sees significant traffic delays and congestion in Douglas and Blackrock.
The Labour Climate Ticket is costed and must be trialled in Cork city by the government. Such a ticket for €9 could give unlimited travel and could get people out of their cars and onto trains, buses, and trams, just like the trial carried out in Germany last year. Tackling the transport trap in Ireland would be a welcome step in the right direction. We need a public transport champion that will push these incentives and show how beneficial public transport can be for commutes in Cork city for work and school.
Important:
Donations can only be accepted from residents of the Republic of Ireland/Irish citizens abroad. I cannot accept donations over €1,000 from one person and cannot take an anonymous donation of over €100.
Any support is more than welcome and will go towards fighting the Election this June!
