Update: Elderly Filipino mom in foreclosure
Donation protected
Update 02/05/24: time to get an attorney. Foreclosure sale was on 11/30/23. From what we found online, property was so for almost $100k. Just now finding out, that sketchy stuff involved. Bank president, Jason Goehring, of American national fired…or relocated to Grand Rapids MN, foreclosure sale REVERSED and remaining $9,000 forgiven….what bank does that?
UPDATE 11/31/23: today was the foreclosure auction. I don’t know what it sold for or what happens next. Unfortunately, my sister & I live hours away. I know we did not raise near enough to pay off the balance before today. I’m extremely grateful for those who’ve donated and/or shared the link. I’m hoping people can still continue with donations and sharing because we will at some point have to move mom & hopefully find a place she can afford. Donations will help with getting her set up. We could never do this without people like you. Thank you. Truly.
Her laugh is worth everything. The simplest things will throw her into infectious laughter!
I’m Marita. This is about my mom. My dad was in the military, married & brought my mom to the states in 1966. They were both young 22 and 24 and were divorced by 1967 after I was born. My mom raised me alone without welfare working two jobs. She wanted the American dream. She went through three horrible marriages and ended up with three kids. To sum things up in a Cliff note’s version, in the mid-2000s, she had a stroke, a year or two later, her house burned down and within a couple years of that, her 3rd husband died. The house that burned down was uninsurable and her husband left her $6000 life insurance. My sister & brother in law bought an old mobile home for her to live in. Because of the fire, she refused gas heat. Due to electrical heat, her winter electrical bill ranges from $500-$800 a month. She will be 82 this year, has elderly health issues and lives on Social Security.she owes less than $11,000 on her property which is in foreclosure. Goes to sale at the end of November. She will be homeless. She wants to stay on her property because she’s loves it there & all her pets from the last 25-years are buried there. I’m reaching out as a last resort.
