Elderly couple from Peru stranded in Bothell

We would like you to meet Lucy and Gregorio. They are a sweet elderly couple from Peru that needs your help.
Lucy and Gregorio traveled from Peru to the United States back in January to visit a friend in Bothell, Washington. They were supposed to fly back in March but that is when the Covid-19 virus struck the United States. Lucy and Gregorio were able to stay at the home until recently. We don’t know the details, but they were not able to stay at this house any longer. They needed to leave.
On Thursday August 6th, they packed their suitcases and left the home with nowhere to go. They spent the night walking and ended up sleeping under a carport. In the early morning they walked to our neighborhood park because it has a large gazebo. They sat there all day until a neighbor posted about them on the community Facebook page looking for a Spanish speaking person to help. That is how we found out about this unfortunate situation. My wife speaks Spanish.
Lucy and Gregorio needed somewhere safe to stay. A Snohomish County Sheriff’s Deputy and some caring neighbors came to meet them at the gazebo and gave them a bag of food. The deputy said shelters are closed because of the virus, or the shelters only men or only take women or only take families with kids. Finally, the sheriff said he would pay for a hotel for the night. He actually paid for three nights and said that someone would call them on Monday, August 10th to offer assistance. He then drove them to a hotel near Bothell-Everett Hwy and I-405.
Because of the Corona virus, they cannot travel back to Peru until September 17th. So, they are stranded here in Bothell until then. We do not know what assistance, if any, they will get on Monday, but they are concerned about maintaining their health and going to a shelter with strangers. They are worried about the virus and worried about where they will be staying in the coming weeks.
We met with them this morning (August 8th) and brought them breakfast and some groceries. Their hotel room has a small kitchenette for cooking. The two of them are friendly, humble and worried. They do not want to bother anybody, and they are extremely grateful for having a place to stay for a couple of nights.
This GoFundMe is to help them with food and shelter through September 17th. We want to help them stay at the hotel for as long as possible (It is approximately $65 per night). They have minimal groceries currently. Thank you for anything you can do to help.
We are withdrawing these funds into our own account because Lucy and Gregorio are from Peru and do not have the ability to collect the funds electronically. We continue to respect the purpose of this campaign by making sure they have food and shelter until they depart to Peru. We have paid for their current lodging which includes breakfast, lunch and dinner. We have also taken care of some other meals, groceries and services. We will hand deliver any extra funds from this campaign directly to Lucy and Gregorio before they leave.
