Elderly neighbour needs urgent house repairs!

Hi all, my name is Louise and I’m here to help raise a little bit of money for one of my elderly local neighbours who has sadly been scammed.

V is a lovely woman, she walks her dogs up and down our road daily, she’s known and liked by so many and always has a lovely smile and a kind word to say to everyone and their children.

Sadly, she’s been victim to two local scammers recently, who promised to fix her bay window and flat roof. The first man turned up, took over 9months to do a small amount of work, took £600 and didn’t finish the job. A neighbour then approached her offering a quote to remediate the works and V trusted him as he was known to her. To date he has not turned up, except to put expanding foam in the gaps and taken £600 for materials that have never arrived! Scaffolding randomly turned up without her knowing where it came from and has been left at the house for weeks. He’s fobbed her off with multiple stories and when we’ve tried to visit him or make contact, he’s avoided us and refused to answer his door.

Shes been left now for 14 months with these issues, damp in the lounge and nothing but a cheap portable dehumidifier to try and keep the damp at bay.

We hate to see her in this situation and having been so badly let down. She’s anxious, wakes up shaking and is so nervous to ask for help as she feels she just can’t trust anyone. Sadly she also lost one of her elderly dogs recently and the other is now unable to walk, so she’s been house bound for weeks.

I’ve asked the local community for help, to show her there are some good people left out there and that she’s cared about and some people mentioned setting up a go-fund me to assist in repair costs and making things a little easier for her.

Any amount will go solely toward her repairs and ensuring her house is safe and dry for her and Rosie, her dog. Thank you for anything you can offer x
