For over two decades, our community charity has been a pillar of hope and support for the El Suyate Community located about a three-hour drive east of Guatemala City. Nestled in a rural area on the edge of the town of Ipala, in the Chiquimula region near the borders of both Honduras and El Salvador. In El Suyate, where the opportunities are scarce, we’ve developed many wonderful relationships and have also worked tirelessly to bridge the gap between dreams and reality for countless families. Thanks to the generosity of people like you, we’ve been able to create life-changing programs that empower individuals, families, and communities in the region.
Since 2003, we’ve provided essential services focused on community development and educational support. Over the years, and with the help of hundreds of Canadian volunteers working alongside our friends in the various rural Guatemalan villages, our projects have ranged from building and/or repairing hundreds of homes, building or adding to medical clinics and schools, replacing open pit “three stone” fires in over 500 homes with locally sources Plancha and Nixtamal stoves, providing water purification stations for families, supporting vocational training for adults, and healthcare initiatives that save lives. Beyond resources, we’ve become a trusted partner in moments of crisis and a place where the community can lean on one another for strength. Together, we’ve created hundreds of annual scholarships for young leaders, empowered local entrepreneurs, and strengthened families with mentorship and care.
But the work isn’t finished.
The world has changed rapidly, and so have the challenges faced by our community. Rising food costs, dwindling resources, and shifts in global health have endangered our ability to sustain these vital programs. Still, we believe that with your help, we can rise above these challenges and do even more for El Suyate in the next twenty years.

- Add a much-needed addition to the primary school that we opened in 2019.
- Expand our food security program to ensure that healthy food is available and that no family goes to bed hungry.
- Provide school supplies and scholarships for children seeking brighter futures.

- Facilitate health and wellness initiatives, ensuring every family has access to medical care.
- Maintain and grow our crisis support services for families in need.
