El Centro: A binational oasis in the desert

This is the El Centro Community Center, where our El Centro Café is located.  Less than a block from the international wall between the U.S. and Mexico, this is a place where quality coffee and regional food will be served.  It is also a place where youth and adults can learn languages, musical instruments, and other subjects pertinent to education.  Our goal is to begin this café by the end of August 2021 with youth leadership. 

We have three different sets of clients: those who cross into the U.S. each day to go to work or school; the community of Naco, AZ; and visitors from other places that cross from the U.S. into Mexico for several reasons, including tourism and dental appointments. 

We have received much community and grant support from the time we began this project in January 2021. From May until now we have raised $400 in donations, $2,100 in goods, and approximately 215 hours of adult volunteer time.  We need approximately $5,800 more to startup with a healthy reserve of cash.  We welcome your support in whatever way you can give and thank you for considering this business.  Our project is built upon the premise that the interdependence we share is crucial to the heart of our community.  We invite you to join us.
