✨ Diwali Fundraiser for E Fry Hope and Help for Women ✨
This is our third Diwali raising funds, and EKTA is proud to join forces with Power To Her to shine a light on E Fry Hope and Help for Women.
Diwali is a celebration of light overcoming darkness, hope prevailing over despair. In that spirit, we are dedicating this year’s fundraiser to E Fry, a social services agency that empowers women and girls through a trauma-informed, inclusive, and gender-responsive lens. This festive season, we want to highlight their Anti Human Trafficking Programs which assist self-identifying women and girls who have been trafficked and/or sexually exploited to receive specialized residential services and support in the Peel community.
For example, as part of their Peel Transition House and Bonnie McPhee House programs, female-identifying survivors of sex trafficking, aged 16-24, are provided with a safe and appropriate housing option in Peel. These programs offer not only safety, but also trauma-informed care, community, and the tools women need to begin their journey toward healing and independence.
This cause is deeply personal to us.
EKTA is a movement rooted in community, solidarity, and collective action. As members of the South Asian diaspora, we also reflect on how we can decolonize the idea of the “giving season.” Instead of centring Western holidays, we see Diwali as one of the most meaningful times to give back, a time that aligns deeply with our culture, our roots, and the values of light, hope, and renewal that this season represents.
Partnering with Power To Her, whose mission is to empower women by dismantling barriers, amplifying voices, and providing resources that enable them to thrive, allows us to merge our strengths and focus on meaningful, tangible change. Together, we believe that supporting survivors is one of the most powerful ways we can embody the true meaning of Diwali - bringing light to the darkest corners.

100% of the funds raised will go directly toward essential donation items that E Fry urgently needs to support women in their care. This includes:
• Hygiene kits
• Warm clothing (hats, mitts, socks) as we head into winter
• Non-perishable food items
• Self-care products
These items provide dignity, warmth, and comfort to survivors as they begin rebuilding their lives. Every contribution, big or small, helps ensure that women and girls have access to the safety, dignity, and resources they deserve.
