My name is Bjorn, and I’m trying to raise money to help my mother with her debts. A bailiff came and wrote everything down, and now we have one month to pay it all. That’s obviously a very short amount of time, but we’re doing our best, we’re working in the meantime.

I also had surgery recently, and the doctor told me to rest for two months. But I only managed to take one month off. I’m in a lot of pain, I can barely sleep, and I can’t take morphine, because if I do, I won’t be able to work.

The reason these debts came about is simple: our dog Joe was diagnosed with cancer six months ago. The vet said he could be saved with medication, special food, and an IV drip. We followed all of that, but things didn’t go as the vet had said. A week later, our dog passed away.

My mom was devastated. Then she received a bill from the vet for €1,600. She was paying it off slowly—€150 a month. But suddenly, the vet involved lawyers and raised the amount to €2,800. On top of that, they wouldn’t take back the unused medication or food.

To me, it feels like the vet took advantage of us and our situation. Sadly, we can’t set up a monthly payment plan, my mother already tried. Now they’re asking for even more help and told us they’ll be asking for additional payments next month.

That likely means belongings from either me or my mom will be taken, since the bailiff has already noted everything down. So if you’re willing to help, I appreciate it more than words can say. I really didn’t want to ask for money, this is the last thing I ever wanted to do.
