EKFD Shower

As many of you have seen, the East Kingston Fire Department is working on a campaign to renovate a bathroom to include a shower at the Fire Station. Unfortunately, for this to be up to code, a large part of the electric and plumbing systems need to be updated as well as the expansion of the bathroom space and the addition of the shower. This has been a project the Association has been considering for quite some time, but has not had in the budget yet. With the introduction of COVID-19, the need for the shower has expanded enormously from normal post-run decontamination, to the need for decontamination after every call. In response, the Fire Department has strung a garden hose through the ceiling and it runs into a kiddie pool and is used as a shower to decontaminate after calls. This decontamination process is vitally important to protect the next person who calls 911 from being exposed to anything first responders have been exposed to, as well as protecting the families of first responders. East Kingston Fire wants to be safe, but they also want to keep YOU safe. For that reason, we are starting a campaign to hopefully raise the rest of the funds necessary for this project to continue - without the help of your tax dollars. We have had to cancel fundraisers due to this virus, so we are running a bit low on funds as is, even without taking on this additional expense. Therefore, we are asking those of you who may have a little extra financially (we understand not everyone does in this time period and don't want to pressure anyone!) to consider donating to this project. Please consider sending a check to the East Kingston Fire Association, PO Box 171, East Kingston. If you put in the memo line that it is earmarked for the shower, we will return it to you if we find a less expensive plan or we will reimburse with anything we may receive as reimbursement through FEMA's disaster relief. These reimbursements will be based on percentages and we will be as transparent as possible with everything going forward. The GoFundMe is also available for the potential reimbursement program.
