In Loving Memory of Eileen Mare, organized by Phyllis, Eric, and Megan Ohr on behalf of Chretien & Nicole Mare.
We are so saddened to share that on Saturday, February 15th, Eileen Mare passed away. For those of you who know her son, Chretien, and her late husband Fernand who unexpectedly passed away in September, you know how devoted a mother and wife she was. Throughout her life Eileen gained strength and connection from her family and her many friends. This beautiful picture of Chretien and his parents show their happiness being together and their love for each other.
Eileen was a brave and powerful woman who led a rich life dedicated to taking care of her family. She balanced home life with a professional life, establishing a successful career early on in fashion. For the past several years she was the “heart and soul” of a busy university counseling center, greeting all she encountered coming there for help with her warm smile and a ton of compassion.
Eileen was happiest sharing tea and conversation with family and friends, enriching their lives in immeasurable ways. Her fierce love for her son and husband was abundantly clear. Her face lit up with happiness when showing pictures of Chretien at his crew competitions and one of the highlights of her life was watching him at the Head of Charles race. Eileen frequently expressed her immense pride in Chretien as he developed into a talented photographer and videographer, beaming as she shared his work with others. She loved her daughter-in-law Nicole and expressed great joy as she shared in Nicole’s dancing and educational achievements. Even when challenged by medical and physical concerns, Eileen actively participated in the lives of her family, dancing beautifully with Chretien at his wedding to Nicole.
Eileen was diagnosed with diabetes at a young age and despite being a child and then an adult facing the struggles of such a diagnosis, Eileen was able to pursue her dreams of a life filled with family, friends, and career. Most recently, Eileen had been experiencing the medical impact of this serious condition, yet she continued to valiantly live life to its fullest regardless of how she was feeling. She NEVER gave up and knowing her has made us all stronger.
Please consider supporting Chretien and Nicole during this difficult time by donating through this GoFundMe. All donations will go towards funeral expenses. Thank you all.
