CREA & CROTA are joining forces to raise funds for the HACAP Food Pantry.
HACAP Food Pantry is a local non-profit that supplies food and meals to those in need in the Cedar Rapids Area. Including the families and students, our schools serve.
HACAP has experienced an 18% increase in cost since the event of COVID-19. That means in the next 6 months the organization will need to come up with an extra $2.2 million to meet the needs in our community.
$198,125 will be needed in the next 6 weeks to meet the need
HACAP will spend:
$25,000/ week to purchase food
$7,500/ month on packaging and boxes
$30,000/ month for organization staffing to meet the increased needs
$3,750 / month cleaning, disinfecting and food safety efforts
$2,000/ month on research and collaboration on long-term implications on need
As CREA / CROTA we are looking to support this service by raising at least $7,000. That would be comparable to about $10 per member.
To facilitate this we are adding in some competition:
- The school with the highest percentage of CREA/ CROTA members participating will receive a $500 donation, your building union membership can allocate for needs in your school.
To qualify for the school prize, include your school's name in the notes section of your donation.
