Make Another World Possible!

Another World is a community space for social change where neighbors in central Brooklyn can come together to solve shared problems. We build radical community power by growing grassroots institutions of collective care that work for all neighbors, from our youth to our elders. We envision a Brooklyn of abundance, where children play on the street, neighbors greet each other by name, public services meet the community’s needs, and everyone can afford to live well.

Another World will launch in Summer 2025 in Crown Heights, Brooklyn. This project comes out of the work we've done with the Crown Heights CARE Collective (CHCC), a hyperlocal abolitionist group that focuses on building community institutions that can resist violence, housing insecurity, and the harms of policing. As organizers with CHCC, we’ve spent the last three years building spaces where average New Yorkers can envision new models of power – where everyday people can slowly start to shape the world around them.

We’ve organized eviction defense for an elderly neighbor being harassed by his landlord and helped revive a local block association and its annual block party. We’ve distributed baby formula and thousands of diapers, organized free clothing stores, and put our bodies on the line to defend abortion clinics. We’ve deepened ties with Crown Heights institutions like the Brower Park Library, the Historic First Church, and the Walt L Shamel Community Garden, hosting politicized community events that have brought together thousands of our neighbors.

All funds raised will help support our rent, utlities and other costs like insurance and professional fees. We will also be able to set up the space with amenities for the community, and fund our programming for the first year. To build a physical center where our work can deepen and grow, we need the support of you all—our community.
