My name is Anwar, and I am a Palestinian from the Gaza Strip. Like millions of others, I endured unimaginable suffering and loss during the war in Gaza. For nearly seven months, my family and I lived through constant fear, displacement, and devastation. Our home, our stability, and everything we had built were taken from us.
My story from Gaza was documented by The New York Times and shared on their official platforms — not because I wanted attention, but because our reality needed to be seen.
On May 5, 2024, after almost seven months of war, I managed to escape Gaza with my family. We settled temporarily in Egypt, where we lived for nearly a year, trying to survive and rebuild from nothing. Eventually, I was given the opportunity to move to Kuwait, where I am currently working as an English teacher.
I have a little boy who was born in Gaza on March 21, 2023. He was only five months old when the war began. He experienced displacement and trauma before he even learned how to speak. Today, he is three years old — and my greatest responsibility is to give him a future where he can live safely and freely.
Now, my wife is five months pregnant, and we are preparing to welcome another child. Given our reality as Palestinians from Gaza — without passports that offer stability or freedom of movement — I am planning to travel to Brazil so that my newborn child can be born there and receive Brazilian citizenship, as Brazil grants birthright citizenship.
This would not only secure a future for our newborn, but also allow my three-year-old son, my wife, and myself to apply for residency and citizenship later — giving our family legal identity, mobility, and safety after everything we lost.
However, the war left us with nothing. No savings. No assets. No support system. To carry out this life-changing plan, I need help covering the following essential costs:
- Plane tickets: approximately $6,000
- Living expenses in Brazil for one year: approximately $20,000
- Rent: about $800/month
- Food and basic services: about $600/month
- Childbirth and medical costs: approximately $5,000
This campaign is not about comfort or luxury. It is about giving my children a future, a legal identity, and a chance to live without fear.
Asking for help is not easy, but I am doing this for my family — for two children who deserve stability, dignity, and hope.
Any donation, no matter how small, will bring us one step closer to safety. And if you are unable to donate, sharing this campaign could change our lives.
Thank you for reading our story, for standing with us, and for believing that even after war, life can begin again.
