I hope this message finds you well and in peace. My name is Alaaeddin Alreefi , and I work as an accountant. I am Palestinian, currently living in Belgium, while my family remains in the Gaza Strip, in the midst of the war.
I have two brothers and two sisters, one of whom is married and has two children, Maryam and monier, whose profile picture appears.
My younger brother is a first-year medical student here in Gaza, and he has great hopes of becoming a distinguished doctor.
Since the beginning of this war 700 days ago, we have been living in fear, struggle, humiliation, and hunger. We live under constant shelling and airstrikes, and people are being killed everywhere. We flee from shelter to shelter, because nowhere is safe. The occupation army threatened our neighborhood, so we left our home. Now, the ten of us live in a tent in Rafah without electricity, gas, or a toilet. We lack clean water, and food is a luxury, if we have it at all.
My little niece can’t get her medication and daily nutritional needs. We live in constant fear, waiting for death at any moment. I can't explain to you how horrible the tank shells and clashes are. They're so close to us, and Gaza is so small, with nowhere to escape. My little brother Bashar, lost his dream of becoming a doctor after his university was destroyed, and I'm so worried about my nephew.
I'm seeking asylum in Belgium for me and my family. In order for the family to leave Gaza, we need to pay $40,000 to get to Egypt and another $40,000 to get to Belgium and sign the asylum application. You can ask me exactly how much and how I'll spend it, and I'll be more than happy to answer.
I reach out to you with humility and deep gratitude, hoping that your compassion will be a beacon of light in our darkest times. Please donate for my family and my beautiful nephew, whose face is now pale. It could mean the difference between despair and a glimmer of hope for my family in Gaza.
