Hi, my name is Trent Wheeler, and I have been involved in relief efforts all across the globe, including helping during Hurricane Andrew in 1992. By the time this circulates, Hurricane Ian will have struck the west coast of Florida leaving destruction in it's wake.
I have done relief work through Healing Hands International, distributed goods through Churches of Christ disaster Relief, and loaded trucks and taken aid to Miami during Hurricane Andrew. I have a long history of helping regions in need, including working with several international agencies.
I strongly urge you to check out my history, or others trying to raise support. If you don't know me, ask someone who has reposted this appeal. I believe the best support to any need or disaster is local and that is why I have started this appeal.
All funds being raised will be used in the affected areas. Our plan is to work through churches in the region to get relief teams directly to the families in need. I have close ties to many of these churches and have a lot of friends and family in the region.
While large national relief groups will do an amazing job in getting supplies to the region, having hands on the ground, tools, generators, and other supplies is often more difficult in the days and weeks following. It is my plan and prayer to purchase and provide local relief teams with chain saws, generators, gas cans, and practical tools and supplies so they can go to the affected regions and assist at the greatest point of need.
As this process unfolds, I will provide all donors a full report on the work that is done and how the funds are spent. I am confident local churches and support agencies will be making efforts to get to the impacted areas as quickly as possible.
Having friends and family in the impacted area makes this effort very near to my heart.
Please share and help in whatever small way you can.
