Support Hogar Genesis
Dear Family and Friends,
Back in June of last year, I met a very humble guy from Peru: Rodolfo, and his wife Saraid.
They were sharing their vision to build Hogar Genesis, a children's home in Iquitos, Peru. Unlike an orphanage, this home's mission would be to raise children in a loving family setting, children who are abandoned and neglected, children in desperate need of hope... Rodolfo went on by saying how when he first started a few years ago, he had $6 in his bank account. Six dollars!!! This was just the start. As he was pouring out his heart and stories, something was stirring inside me. How could I share in this passion... in this drive to make a difference in someone's life... one child at a time. I did not know how, but this was clearly something I wanted to be a part of.
For the last few years, Rodolfo and Saraid have built relationships with drug addicts, prostitutes and parents to bring hope to many in their dark places. With a population estimated at around 1/2 million people, Iquitos is the largest city in the world inaccessible by road. It is an area overcome with prostitution, addiction, crime and abuse.
This September, Sarah and I will be heading to Iquitos for a few days* with Missionary Ventures Canada. Rodolfo and Saraid need all the help they can get: help to work with children and orphans... help to finish the construction of Hogar Genesis... help on the streets (drug holes) of Belen… help to teach English to children..help with the women's prison ministry.
Please help us make a difference as we turn this beautiful dream into a reality. Any donation will help make an impact** (The tax geek in me- and yes that's my profession, can't help it - would remind you that Canada's tax system is very generous where charitable donations are concerned. For example, annual donations in excess of $200 can get you a tax credit (and refund) of $0.45 on the dollar!!!)

** The last time I chatted with Rodolfo, he mentioned that the costs (on credit cards) are currently sitting at around 40,000 USD.
