Edwin Renteria Recovery & Justice

This is the Renteria Family, (left side) Edwin, Jonathan (dad), Elizabeth (mom), JJ, Natalie & Jovanni. On July 20 they suffered a life changing injury. Their 15 year old son Edwin was shot by a teen boy. Edwin was found unconscious at scene and was brought back to life. Edwin was airlifted with in minutes of arriving into Humboldt General Hospital to Renow Hospital in Reno. Edwin was raise in Winnemucca,Nv until in 2019 his family decided to move Las Vegas,Nv leaving lots of friends and family behind. For a better opportunity in pursuing their soccer careers. Edwin number one passion is being on soccer field. Edwin & his brother Jovanni would come visit family & childhood friends all the time. Edwin was in Winnemucca visiting family when this tragedy happened.

As dad & mom arrived at the hospital in Reno they were notified of their son situation. Edwin has been on a ventilator since arriving. Doctors say that maybe we will never be able to get off. Edwin was impacted on the back on his neck ( the bullet entered the back side of his neck & exit his left side chin) leaving him with spinal injury. Edwin is paralyzed from his chest down. Edwin is stable & alert for the most part but he has a long way of recovery.

We decided to open this gofund to help them. They don’t only have to deal with the life changing problems but also getting justice for him. They will need to get a lawyer to fight for something their son did not cause. Edwin was raise to be good heart human. Whoever knows him knows that he was gifted the biggest heart in this world. That teen boy took everything from them. Edwin did not deserve this.

Edwin was released from Renow ICU Trauma on August 8 and was flown to Craig Rehabilitation Center to start his process to be back on those soccer fields one day. This will be a long process but we have faith god will get him up one day. We ask for a little help to this family and most of all prayers for his recovery. #justiceforedwin
