Support My Volunteer Teaching & Trek Expedition

Dear, amazing family, friends and supporters,

I am embarking on an extraordinary adventure that blends education, cultural immersion, and personal growth. I am seeking your generous support to raise £3350 for my volunteer teaching and trek expedition to Nepal in July 2024.

It all began last February when I attended a captivating talk by Dr. Chintamini Yogi, the dedicated headmaster of "HVP Balkumari," an underprivileged Hindu school in Nepal. Dr. Yogi's narrative unfolded the vibrant tapestry of life halfway around the world, and his passion for education inspired me deeply.

Motivated by the opportunity to make a meaningful impact, I applied to join a volunteer expedition this coming July. During this two-week adventure, I will take on the responsibility of teaching English, Maths, and Science to Nepalese school children. The journey also includes a 5-day trek through the breathtaking Langtang Valley in the Himalayan foothills.

My sense of curiosity and purpose made the prospect of very simple accommodation, 12-hour bus journeys, a lack of electricity or running water and the same diet day in day out seem like negligible factors when considering taking part in this expedition. But more so what attracted me, was the potential to positively influence the lives of underprivileged school children who have not been given the privilege what I take for granted each day, as well as the opportunity for my own personal development.

The transformative power of education is what lies at the heart of the expedition, as well as for me to get an insight into life in a faraway, less prosperous community. But for me, the most rewarding aspect will be to positively impact the education of the young Nepalese children attending their underprivileged school which constantly faces financial challenge and was also impacted by the multiple earthquakes in the region. Despite these obstacles the school led by Dr Yogi continues striving to maintain its provision of a stable pathway for its students to grow, learn, support their families, and prosper.

Any funds raised above the target will be used to purchase uniform, books and writing instruments for the school.
