Re-Build School in Asitey, Ghana
Donation protected
The Village of Asitey is located in the Eastern Region of Ghana, West Africa.
I first visited Asitey, the hometown of one of my adopted families in Ghana in 2007. I instantly connected with the community and saw so much ambition in the eyes of the youth. I paid a visit to a school that is located right in Asitey. The school consisted of two-room building, a large clearing under a tree that was used to conduct additional classes and recreational activities; a temporary structure and land large enough to expand the school into a six room school. The children were so attententive and enthusiastic to learn from their teachers. I knew then that I was going to do my best to assist in improving this school’s structures and educational materials.

The Dilemna:
The school is currently not functioning and as a result, a lot of the children have to walk a few miles over to the next town to attend school. Although the culture in Ghana includes a very active lifestyle as it pertains to physical exercise; it is important that a child has the opportunity to be educated in their community where more time may be spent learning and not walking to and from school.

These two photos are of the current condition of the School building. Your donation will go directly to repairing and building additions to the school in order to reopen and provide quality education to the community of Asitey. (Photo taken 2014)
WHAT WE NEED:
1. Replace the roof--the roof deteriorated and had to be removed. The school building is currently without a roof.
2. Complete enclosures for existing school building.
3. Construct toilets
4. Build an addition to the school block
5. Furnish classrooms with new desks and chalkboards, etc.

This area has already been cleared and is awaiting funding to construct an addition to the school.
The Mango farm located directly behind the school that will be used to help subsidize and sustain the school in perpetuity.

This is a photo showing a small portion of Asitey. The community rallied together and successfully received the support of the government to pave the road leading into the Village. This is a great opportunity to reopen the school. (Photo taken 2014)
