Edinburgh Trans Femicide Prevention - Doll rescue fund
Donation protected
This year, Edinburgh Women’s Aid announced it was formally barring trans women from their services, including their domestic violence shelters. This leaves trans women who need to flee intimate partner violence with nowhere to go in Edinburgh.
We believe there are no acceptable victims of femicide.
To try to help provide exit routes for trans women to escape from violent men and abusive partners, and with our limited resources, ETFP seeks to ensure no trans woman has to choose between homelessness and abuse.
What we seek to provide:
3 nights emergency accommodation in a local hotel
Hygiene bag (razor and shaving gel, hair bobble, face wipes)
Signposting to funded services that will support trans female victims of intimate partner violence
What we will not be able to provide:
Long-term financial support
Therapy / Counselling / Crisis support
We estimate it will cost around £500 to help a trans woman escape violence and find safe shelter for 3 days, and are looking to raise £2000 as the starting point for this project to fund the purchase of a mobile phone, stock a couple of hygiene bags, and to have the pot of money ready to support trans women in need, when they need it.
If you are interested in helping out with the project, or work with an organisation or company who is open to us signposting to your services, please get in contact with us via our instagram or email: @edi_tfp
