We are writing to you in an effort to raise funds to help save a piece of Glenview history from the wrecking ball and to help make a dream come true.

The house at 110 Park Drive, Glenview, IL, built in 1892-93 by the Wm. Junge family is thought to be the oldest “built from scratch” house in the Glenview New Church community (“the Park”). This venerable house has been the family home through the generations of direct descendants, until the death of the last remaining resident, Joyce Caldwell.

With the house in need of repair, and Glenview real estate being at a premium, it seemed a certainty that the house would be sold as a tear down – until . . .

Eden McQueen stepped forward. A descendant of the original family, Eden has put together the funding to purchase the house – looking to move her family there by the end of this year, 2022. Eden will be settling into the Glenview New Church community as a single mom with two kids. A new school for her children, new employment for her, a new life for all of them. Eden was born and raised in Glenview. Her dream of ownership realized will make her a fifth-generation occupant of the house and her children's sixth generation.

Eden is a very bright and capable young woman and is enthusiastic about moving back to Glenview and being part of the church community here. But the road ahead to rehab the house and make it a livable home for her children is major. So far, she has obtained loans allowing her to purchase the house and cover 100K of an estimated 170K needed for essential work. The home needs significant repairs in order to bring it back to glory.

We have had good success in raising funds through a GoFundMe effort, and roofing is already underway. Additional funds are still needed to cover plumbing, electrical, and other major work to complete the initial repairs. This is where you come in. Our hope, through this fundraising effort, is to gift Eden with the remaining dollars she needs to make her dream come true. We would love to feel your support, in any amount.

Preserving this house also helps maintain the architectural integrity and cultural history of the Park, and we thank Eden for wanting to be part of this. Thank you for considering this request. With your help we can make Eden’s dream come true and also preserve our historic community.

Sincerely,
