Transform Chimbote: Build Hope & Dignity

Tax deductible
Support the Chimbote, Peru local community July 19th-28th 2024 by building a primary-aged learning facility for the community.

About Chimbote:
Chimbote is the home to more than 400,000 people many of whom live in extreme poverty. Chimbote lies approximately 250 miles north of Lima in a coastal desert region. Each year thousands of Peruvians come to Chimbote in search of a better life for their families. They put up makeshift shelters of estera (woven reeds), cardboard and plastic on the outskirts of the city. With no running water, electricity, or government aid, they live in conditions making them long for a way out of poverty and a source of hope, dignity, and opportunity. After the pandemic, the need to rebuild and help the people in Chimbote and surrounding communities is critical.

The Mission:
We will be in partnership with Friends of Chimbote. Friends of Chimbote is an organization dedicated to supporting programs that improve and transform the lives of the poor in Chimbote, Peru and surrounding communities that are in need.
Last year's team built a learning center that has turned into a great resource for the community and revealed the need for this year's structure in support of educating primary-aged children.

Working parents who depart very early are often unable to get their young kids to the local school, which is a lengthy and steep journey not suitable for young children to make alone. The new structure along with the community's investment in educators will enable them to get the headstart needed for their future prosperity.

The Need:
Monetary Donations to cover the cost of building materials for the primary-aged learning facility based on current preliminary budget. Any remaining funds will go towards the needs of the Chimbote community (first aid equipment, clothing, shoes, toys, etc.)
