Hi!

My name is Cailin and this October I had the opportunity to volunteer with ECoS Women (Extent Community Smile) in Arusha, Tanzania. To say this experience has changed my life would be an understatement. Now it’s my turn to return the favour.

ECoS Women is a registered Tanzanian NGO dedicated to empowering women and youth through education, entrepreneurship, and community development. They help women overcome challenges such as poverty, domestic violence, disability, and lack of access to education, while also supporting children’s learning and health through their Emmanuel Children Center and other outreach programs.

During my time volunteering at ECoS, I witnessed firsthand the impact of their work. I helped teach confidence building and business skills to local women, visited families in need, and delivered food to women who were unable to work due to illness or domestic circumstances. Many of these women have survived unimaginable hardship, yet they show endless kindness, resilience, and hope.

The organization runs several local initiatives, including:

1. Women’s Empowerment Program: teaching women how to create income through small businesses like soap-making, handbag production, and agriculture.

2. Education & Sponsorship Program: providing education and school supplies for local children who would otherwise not be able to attend school.

3. Youth Awareness Program:

helping young people learn entrepreneurship, health education, and environmental responsibility.

Despite the incredible impact they make, ECoS operates with very limited funding and relies heavily on volunteer support and community donations.
