We desperately need to quickly decarbonize and refurbish the natural world. As many of you know, I have been creative problem solver my whole life by bringing together complex ideas into structurally unified and emotionally simple solutions. I have spent the last 10 years studying the history of monetary systems and the behaviors that arise from those monetary systems. Through this research I've written a relatively short comprehensive plan for a parallel monetary system that pays us to decarbonize and refurbish the natural world, plus get free health care, free retirement and free education and have taxes for everyone (rich and poor alike) go down. I call it EcoDemurrage because it combines the needs of the environment and the needs of people in our economy.
Promoting this novel idea can benefit us all fundamentally. If you would like to read my full paper in detail please ask and I will send it to you. It's inspiring and what I consider to be a short concise 14 page read. Maybe your kids would like to read it too.
I feel we desperately need to communicate novel ideas to tackle the climate crisis. My plan is to make an entertaining and comic film that summarizes my plan for people to enjoy and find hope and who knows, maybe change the world a little or a lot. The video points to the website I'm building with the full plan in detail.
The funds will be used used for mainly After Effects animation, but also for production, wardrobe, music and web promotion.
I've made hit music videos for bands that include Green Day, No Doubt, Shakira, Alanis and Cake. This video will have the same spirit - lots of cool gags and costumes and animation.
My brother, Aaron, will be doing the animation and motion graphics. He is a great After Effects artist who has worked on many feature films including Starship Troopers. He will probably be working on this for many weeks pushing petabytes of pixels. And he has one heck of a sense of humor. His contribution will make this thing great.
My sister, Erika, will be making costumes and a talking plant. She is a renowned glass artist and worked in the garment industry as a production pattern maker and designer for many companies including Adidas. She has great taste and style.
My wife, Marian, will produce the film. She worked as a top executive producer of music videos at Sony Music for 20 years. She is a great producer and has incredible focus, style and is generally amazing.
My friend Nate will be doing web promotion to ensure we get as many eyes on this idea as possible. He specializes in social media campaigns and is currently working to promote the growth of electric bikes in America. He is generally a great guy with humor, endurance and figure-it-outedness.
I plan to shoot in late June and July and greatly appreciate your help funding this project. It's a rather odd and unique project, and it means so much to me that you choose to help.
If anyone reading this wants to help on the shoot days please let me know. I would love it if a few cinematographers could contribute a day here and there. Plus other crew and actors. It should be fun.
Please know that every penny will go on the screen. This is a personal project and your contribution helps lighten my load while communicating an idea that may seem massive and outrageous, but hey, why not, let's shoot for the stars - and make this wonderful place we live profoundly nice.
