Early this morning, our family experienced something no one ever expects our home caught on fire. We were woken up by our son, who noticed a strong, unusual smell and thick black smoke filling the house. Because of him, we were able to wake up in time. My husband and I quickly got up, woke our daughter, and rushed to get everyone, including our animals, out of the house while the fire was still ongoing. It was one of the scariest moments of our lives. This was caused by a very intense electrical fire.

911 was called, and firefighters were able to put out the fire, but not before it caused significant damage. The smoke spread throughout our entire home, covering everything in thick soot, and the water used to extinguish the flames flooded our kitchen and other areas of the house. Many of our belongings have been ruined due to smoke, soot, and water damage.

Because of the heavy smoke exposure, all of us had to go to the hospital to have our lungs checked. Thankfully, we are safe, but our home is not livable at this time. We are currently staying in a hotel as we try to figure out our next steps. At this point, we know there is a strong possibility that we may have to move out entirely and get rid of many of our belongings due to the damage and contamination. The thought of losing so much of what we’ve built in our home is heartbreaking.

Every room in the home is in the same condition as shown in the attached photos and videos. I took more video recordings than pictures to give a clearer and more accurate view of each area. The videos better show the overall condition and layout of the rooms, and they accurately represent how the house currently looks.

This has been overwhelming both emotionally and financially. We are asking for any support during this incredibly difficult time. Donations will go toward temporary housing, replacing essential belongings, clothing, food, medical expenses, and the costs associated with cleaning, restoring, or potentially relocating.
