I am Jared Gibb, a Behavior Analyst and Graduate Student located in Kalamazoo MI. I am starting this campaign to allow me to maintain my data collection app completely free for people to use.
I work with local families who have at least one child in the home with autism. In this time of need, there is an increased call for services that allow for electronic behavior data collection. Many of these cost 15-20$/month and frankly, this amount is a lot for a lot of families right now.
I took to app development tot solve this issue and make an even easier app for parents to use. The Behavior Report Card was born. But now, it's starting to grow and will soon outgrow its free tier of every online service it uses and that is why I am here.
All of the families using this app find it very helpful and will not be able to continue using this at info entirely no cost if I am required to put forth money to keep the app service alive. If this app did not exist, it is possible that any of these families would not find data collection able to fit into their lives.
For an ABA clinician to provide support to an ongoing behavior intervention plan, the behaviors intended for change must be measured. Regarding in-home and clinic-based ABA service delivery settings, Cy Nadler and Mark Roberts in 2013 found that direct observation and measurement by trained professionals is the most common method of data collection during evaluation of treatment for challenging behaviors as well as during skill acquisition. However in this time, of COVID-19, there are no/very few ABA practitioners in the homes. This fact leaves the question of who will record data in the absence of trained professionals to better inform treatment delivery? If the absence of a trained professional us the case, the caregiver will become the primary person who can track changes in the trends and level of any given behavior they want to change.
Any money will be used to pay for year-long memberships for data management and app development/maintenance.
