Eastern Cleveland Community Meal Delivery Program

In light of COVID-19 and the current economic crisis, hundreds of thousands of people will face extreme challenges to daily life in the coming months. One of the biggest hurdles is food security, particularly for those who are at high risk of infection if exposed to COVID-19. 

We are a small group of young professionals, college students, and community members who are committed to providing healthy, warm meals to families and households in need. 

Funding will be used to: 

- Purchase delivery containers, serving utensils, and large format dish-ware for meal preparation ($500)
- Purchase sanitation equipment including bleach, dish soap, clorox wipes, and other disinfectants for safe and sanitary cooking conditions ($250)
- Reimburse volunteer drivers for gas miles at the IRS rate, approximately for 6 months of operation ($500)
- Fund non-perishable stock food purchasing, including rice, dry beans, pasta, and other base carbohydrates ($500)
- Fund ongoing perishable food purchases, especially produce until our farm is in operation ($750)

We are planning on supporting the long-term sustainability of our program through a community garden space in Medina that we are currently in the process of setting up for operation. 

Finally, we want to be completely transparent. We are young people, either working to finish our degrees or struggling to find work in this time of crisis. This is something we can do, as able-bodied young people, to help our community as best we can. This funding is critical to support our communities and protect the most vulnerable of us in a time of dire need. We are acting quickly - at the risk of imperfections - to ensure no one goes hungry.
