My name is Gwen, and I am a 71-year-old single retiree living on a fixed income. For the past five years, I have been giving away free Easter baskets to underprivileged children in my community. Growing up in a similar environment, I know firsthand how much a small act of kindness can mean to a child. When the pandemic hit in 2020, I wanted to do something to uplift the children and put a smile on their faces during such a difficult time. That first year, I started making and giving away Easter baskets, and it quickly became a tradition that I look forward to every spring.

Each year, the number of children I am able to help has grown, and so has the need. This year, I am hoping to put smiles on at least 200 kids by providing them with baskets filled with toys, treats, and supplies. The support I receive will go directly toward purchasing baskets, toys like dolls and trucks, and all the goodies that make Easter special for these children. Every donation, no matter the size, helps me reach more kids and lets them know their community cares about them.
