East Side Of Eden

Dominica, The Nature Island.
A nearly unspoiled paradise in the Eastern Caribbean called by many who have experienced her, Eden.
We live on the North East Coast. Village of Calibishie.
Ground Zero.
On September 18, 2017, what had been a Tropical Storm named Maria turned into a Category 5 Hurricane and slammed into the East Coast of Dominica.
What had been a little known, lush, green, rainforest Island in the Eastern Caribbean was reduced to kindling wood and rubble.
Over 75% of the structures on the Island were damaged or destroyed.
The loss of life has yet to be established.

This fund is focused on rebuilding and recovery efforts for the people and villages along the North, East and South  Coasts.

Dominica is an Island populated by Farmers, Tour Guides and Small Business owners.
Now all of those livelihoods are non-existent.
Maria took all the trees. She took all the above ground crops and laid most of the 270 square miles of pristine rainforest low.
There are no more bananas to tend. No more plantain. Avocados.
No crops.
Tourism is closed by necessity, so no more Tours or Tour Guides.
Tourists need water. They like electricity. The Internet.
All those things and everything related to them is gone.

Businesses are beginning to recover and power is slowly being restored. Knowledgeable estimates are 6 to 18 months before the energy infrastructure, Island wide, is restored.

We are going to supply as many people, businesses and villages with portable power supply generators, re-building materials, household supplies and clothing as human generosity will allow.

People need to be able to preserve food.
They need roofs. And walls.
And maybe a light by which to teach children who's school is gone.

People need a bit of help to carry the hope in their hearts through the months to come.

East Side of Eden intends to provide that support.

Any amount will help.
